This two-hour clinic will teach you everything you need to know to pass the belay test, which is required to belay at the U-Rec Indoor Climbing Center. During this course you will learn how to tie a figure-8 follow-through knot and a double fisherman’s knot, and you’ll be taught the standard climbing commands and how to conduct a pre-climb safety check. At the conclusion of the course, the participant should be able to belay a climber up the climbing wall safely, and then lower the climber back to the ground.

ALREADY HAVE BELAY EXPERIENCE?

You can take a quick belay test to demonstrate your competence at belaying if you have previous experience. Stop by the wall and ask the attendant to take the test. Pass the test and you are good for the school year.
